At Denali, dog-friendly hiking is very limited. Tips for Visiting Denali National Park AK (West) with Your Dog

Plan for a very limited dog experience at Denali. Most trails and all off-trail wilderness areas are closed to pets, so build your day around the Roadside Hiking Trail, Roadside Bike Trail, campground roads, parking lots, and short walks along the park road. Bring a sturdy 6-foot leash, waste bags, and extra water because services can be spread out and weather can change quickly. Even in summer, Denali can feel cool, wet, or windy, while sunny days can still leave dogs dehydrated if they are active for long stretches. Wildlife safety is critical here: moose, bears, foxes, and other animals can react unpredictably to dogs, so keep extra distance and never let your dog approach wildlife. Because pets are not allowed on Denali buses, you should not plan a bus-based sightseeing day with your dog unless another person can stay behind with the pet. If you are camping, use campground roads for walks, never leave a tethered dog unattended, and clean up waste promptly. If you need pet boarding, arrange it outside the park before arrival because Denali does not provide public pet boarding.
